Walk into the ocean from the beach and explore Havelock's most accessible reef. Our beginner shore dive is designed for anyone who wants to try scuba - no boat ride, no swimming skills, no experience needed. You start standing on soft sand in waist-deep water, practise breathing through the regulator until you're comfortable, then slowly descend into a vibrant reef full of clownfish, snappers and coral gardens.

Unlike boat dives which require a giant stride into open water, the shore dive removes that stress entirely. You're in control of the pace. Your dedicated instructor stays with you every second - holding your tank, guiding your descent, pointing out marine life. Most guests come out of the water asking when they can dive again.

Shore Dive vs. Boat Dive

Both are great for beginners. The shore dive is shallower, calmer, and ideal if you're nervous about deep water or seasickness. The boat dive takes you to offshore reefs with more diverse marine life and greater depth. Not sure which? The shore dive is the safer first choice - you can always step up to a boat dive the next day.

Step-by-Step - What Happens on the Day

Step 1 · 15 min

Arrival & Gear Up

Arrive at the Frogman centre. Meet your instructor, fill out a short medical safety form, and get fitted for a sanitised wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask and fins.

Step 2 · 15 min

Briefing & Transfer

A short ride to Nemo Beach. Your instructor explains basic hand signals (OK, Not OK, Go Up, Go Down) and how to equalise ear pressure. Simple, relaxed - no rush.

Step 3 · 15 min

Shallow Water Training

We walk into the ocean together. In waist-deep water where you can stand, you practise breathing through the regulator and clearing your mask. We don't move deeper until you give the thumbs up.

Step 4 · 30-40 min

The Dive

Once comfortable, you descend alongside your instructor who holds your tank the entire time. You just breathe and enjoy - clownfish, snappers, coral arches and the famous ghost jeep wreck await.

Marine Life at Nemo Reef

It is a shallow, sheltered bay with clear water and abundant marine life close to shore. Because it's protected from strong currents, fish and invertebrates gather here in large numbers - there's always something to see, even at 3 metres.

Clownfish (Nemo)

Guaranteed sightings of Amphiprion ocellaris families guarding their anemone homes in the shallows. The site is named for them.

Midnight Snappers

Huge schools of yellow and blue-striped fish that drift in synchronised formations - one of the most photogenic sights on the reef.

Parrotfish

Brightly coloured, beak-mouthed fish that you can actually hear crunching on the coral. A favourite of photographers for their vivid patterns.

The Ghost Jeep Wreck

A submerged jeep that has become an artificial reef teeming with life - encrusted in coral and surrounded by fish. A unique highlight of the dive.

Macro Critters

Look closely for tiny transparent cleaner shrimp and porcelain crabs tucked into rocks and coral crevices. Easy to miss, impossible to forget.

Coral Gardens

A dual reef system with both hard and soft corals beginning at just 2 metres depth - excellent for photography in the bright natural light of the shallows.

Absolutely. Shore scuba diving in Havelock starts in waist-deep water where you can stand on the sand, and your instructor holds you throughout. We have safely dived with thousands of first-timers at this site, and it is the most beginner-friendly way to try shore diving in Andaman.

How deep is the shore dive?

The maximum depth is 12 metres, though most of the dive happens between 4 and 8 metres where the reef life is most dense. Marine life starts in just 2 metres of water, so you see incredible things even in the shallows.

What is the difference between the shore dive and a boat dive?

The shore dive enters from the beach - calm, shallow, no boat involved. It's ideal if you're nervous about the ocean or prone to seasickness. The boat dive uses a speedboat to reach deeper offshore reefs with more diverse marine life. Both include a 1:1 instructor and photos. If you're unsure, start with the shore dive.

Will I definitely see clownfish?

Yes - clownfish sightings are essentially guaranteed. The reef has multiple anemone colonies with resident clownfish families, and Nemo Reef is literally named after them.

Can I add extra time underwater?

Yes - add a 15-minute extension to your dive for ₹1,500. Select it at checkout. Subject to conditions and instructor availability on the day.

How long does the whole experience take?

Allow approximately 2.5 hours from the time you reach the dive centre. That covers gear fitting, briefing, the ride to Nemo Beach, shallow-water training, the dive itself (30-40 min), and the ride back.

Are photos included in the price?

Yes - 20-30 HD underwater photos and 3-4 videos are included in your ₹3,500 booking at no extra charge. They are delivered to your WhatsApp.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 72 hours or more before your dive and you get a full refund, minus a 5% payment gateway fee and GST. Inside 72 hours, or if you do not show up, there is no refund. Dives between 15 December and 15 January are non-refundable. If we cancel because of weather or safety, you get a full refund or a free reschedule. Full details are on our refund policy page.

We had an amazing scuba diving experience! The package included pick-up and drop-off from our hotel, all the necessary diving gear, and a wetsuit, making the entire experience very convenient.
Before the dive, the team provided proper training in shallow water, explaining underwater communication signals, breathing techniques, and how to handle any issues that might arise underwater. This helped us feel more comfortable and prepared.
The divers were extremely supportive, patient, and helpful throughout the experience. I experienced some ear pain during the dive, and my dive instructor was very understanding and patiently helped me equalise the pressure in my ears, which I really appreciated.
Underwater, we got to see a beautiful variety of corals and colourful fish. The experience was truly mesmerising and something we will remember for a long time!
Another great part was that the team clicked plenty of underwater pictures and videos, all included in the package, so we could take home some wonderful memories.
Overall, a fantastic experience with a professional, supportive, and friendly team. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try scuba diving!

Our visit to Havelock (Govind nagar Beach) with Frogman for scuba diving and snorkeling was an absolutely amazing experience. Everything was organized very well by Mr. Suchit Sir, who was present throughout the entire experience and made sure we were comfortable and safe at all times. The team was extremely professional, supportive, and friendly. Safety was clearly their top priority, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Underwater, we saw beautiful corals and a wide variety of colorful fish in the deep sea it was truly a different and unforgettable world. Just to give a little context why i felt what i felt, so it start way back ten years ago when i as going in swimming pool near my house and i had near death experience as i didn’t know how to swim and i was trying in deep water, so this time naturally i was so afraid to go in the sea and before this i had already tried this scuba diving in Gili island, Bali and at that time also i couldn’t do it though i took the training but eventually i said no to go with them in the ocean. This time also i was more afraid rather but all you need is a hand of someone who will tell you that you can do it don’t worry. So this piece is being taken care by my girlfriend too needless to say but there was one scuba instructor ( Mr. Ketan) special thanks to him, he did an amazing job- he told me at the start don’t think too much as i was panicking at the time of training session and he gave me good 10 minutes to do the practice afterward i was little reluctant to go in the sea again i was this close to say that i would not be able to do this time as well, but i didn’t say anything rather i and my gf went with these guys and then we took a dive and when i was floating at the surface only then he told me that lets do it again, afterwards he took me inside but not that deep just to make me feel comfortable with the water first and then suddenly when i started looking allover in the ocean there were different different type of fish and other mammals it was worth to watch, just want to say this that he held me in there throughout and when i started swimming and got comfortable then i was doing alone too without his help but still he didn’t let me go out of his sight. So yeah it was an amazing experience as the water was crystal clear, mesmerising views underwater, felt like i was flying in there as it becomes so light weight once you start enjoying it and most importantly one item off my bucket list. Also these scuba instructors are well behaved, well mannered, and well spoken too.
