Long Island sits in the Middle Andaman group, about 30 nautical miles north of Havelock. It's known for Lalaji Bay, one of the few uninhabited white-sand beaches left in the Andamans, and a coral reef most travellers never reach. The Long Island Andaman ferry takes 5–7 hours each way through Rangat. A same-day visit by ferry is impossible.
We go direct. Our private boat to Long Island Andaman runs Havelock to Lalaji Bay in about 2 hours each way. That opens up the full day for the things people actually come for: an empty beach, a quiet snorkel reef, a mangrove creek, and a long unhurried lunch onboard with the boat anchored off the sand. It's the only Long Island Andaman tour that fits inside a single day from Havelock.
Skip the ferry: there is no direct Long Island Andaman ferry from Havelock. The government route goes via Rangat and takes 5–7 hours each way with road transfers in between. No good for a day trip. Our private boat to Long Island Andaman is the only practical same-day option.
Pickup early from Havelock, on Lalaji Bay by mid-morning, hotel drop by evening. Times shift slightly with tide and weather; everything below is typical.
The captain's call on the morning of departure is the call. Weather-cancelled trips are rescheduled or refunded in full.
The fare covers everything on the boat including hot lunch. Forest Department permits and GST are billed separately at the dock.
Family-friendly: safe for all ages with vests for non-swimmers. Pregnant guests and anyone with active ear/sinus infections should skip the snorkel session but can still do the beach and lunch portion.
Long Island is a small inhabited island in the Middle Andaman group, about 55 km north of Havelock. The village sits on the south-east coast: ferry jetty, a few homestays, a forest guesthouse, no real road network. Our destination is the opposite side. Lalaji Bay sits on the north-west coast, reachable from the village only by a 90-minute jungle trek, or directly by boat.
Long Island is in the Middle Andaman group, about 30 nautical miles (~55 km) north of Havelock. It's a small inhabited island known for Lalaji Bay, an uninhabited white-sand beach on its north-west coast.
Two routes. The Long Island Andaman ferry goes Havelock to Rangat to Long Island and takes 5–7 hours each way with road transfers, far too long for a day trip. The faster option is a private boat to Long Island Andaman. Our Long Island Andaman tour runs Havelock to Lalaji Bay in about 2 hours each way, which makes it a comfortable same-day round trip.
There is no direct Long Island Andaman ferry from Havelock. The government route goes via Rangat. You'd need to ferry to Rangat (3+ hours), road-transfer, then take a second ferry to Long Island (1+ hour). Not practical for a one-day visit. That's why our private boat to Long Island Andaman is the only realistic same-day option.
If you want an empty beach day with no crowds, yes, strongly. Lalaji Bay is one of the few Andaman beaches where you'll have a kilometre of white sand to yourself. The snorkel reef is healthy, the mangrove creek is unique to Long Island, and the cruise itself is half the experience. If you want shops, cafes, and convenience, stick with Havelock or Neil.
Lalaji Bay is Long Island's flagship beach: a long curve of white sand on the north-west coast. It's famous for being almost completely untouched. No resorts, no jetty, no commercial activity. The only access is by private boat from Havelock or a 90-minute jungle trek from the village.
Yes. The reef at the south point of Lalaji Bay sits in 4–8 m of clear water with table corals, soft corals, and good fish density. Visibility is 12–20 m on calm days. Because almost no day-tripping crowd reaches it, the reef is in better shape than most of Havelock's house reefs.
Long Island village has a few small homestays and a basic forest guesthouse, but our trip is a day trip. You return to Havelock the same evening. If you'd like to stay over, we can connect you with a partner stay as a separate booking.
October through May offers calm seas, clear water, and stable weather. December and January have the calmest crossings. June to September is the south-west monsoon and the trip operates only on weather-permitting days.
Yes. Long Island requires a Forest Department permit (₹500 Indian / ₹2,500 foreign), which we arrange as part of the booking. Bring a valid government photo ID; it's mandatory for the permit. The permit fee is paid in cash at the Havelock office on the day.
WhatsApp +91 95319 24029 or use the booking form on this page. We confirm with a deposit and the balance is due on the day. Free cancellation up to 60 days out. Slots cap at 10 per trip and earlier booking is better in peak season (December–February).

We had Neelkanth and Ketan sir as our diving instructors. It was our first time trying it out. The pre-training was very clear.
