The First Aid & CPR course teaches you how to respond confidently when someone needs help — whether it's a diver on a boat, a family member at home, or a stranger in the street. In just one day, you'll learn to perform CPR, use an AED, manage serious bleeding, and handle a range of first aid scenarios with real hands-on practice.

No medical background required. No diving experience needed. It's designed for ordinary people — the focus is on what you do in the minutes before professional help arrives.

First Aid & CPR is also the mandatory first aid prerequisite for the RAID Master Rescue Diver and Divemaster certifications — making it an essential step on the path to becoming a diving professional.

Who Can Join?

The First Aid & CPR course has virtually no entry barriers. It is designed to be accessible to everyone — the goal is to put life-saving skills into as many hands as possible.

No Diving Required
This is a fully dry, classroom-based course. You do not need to be a diver, have any scuba experience, or even be comfortable in the water. The course is as relevant for non-divers as it is for certified divers.
Minimum Age: 15 Years
Participants must be at least 15 years old. Younger participants may join with parental approval and instructor discretion. The physical demands are light — the main requirement is the ability to follow instructions and perform CPR compressions.
No Medical Background Needed
First Aid & CPR is designed for lay rescuers — ordinary people with no medical training. The course teaches you exactly what to do in the moments before professional help arrives. No prior knowledge assumed.
Prerequisite for Rescue Diver
If you're planning to do the RAID Master Rescue Diver course, a valid First Aid & CPR certification within the past 24 months is a mandatory prerequisite. Doing First Aid & CPR the day before Rescue Diver is the most efficient path — we coordinate this seamlessly at Frogman.
Useful Beyond Diving
First Aid & CPR certification is recognised by many employers as a workplace first aid qualification. It counts towards first aid requirements in schools, gyms, hotels, and marine businesses. The skills you learn are practical for life, not just for diving.

Your Day at a Glance

The First Aid & CPR course is structured as a single full day — typically running 9am to 4pm. It alternates between short knowledge sessions and hands-on practice drills, so the day moves quickly and there's very little passive sitting.

Morning Session 1
Primary Care — CPR & Scene Management
Introduction to the First Aid & CPR philosophy — how to assess a scene safely, when to call for help, and how to use barrier protection. CPR technique: correct hand placement, compression depth and rate, rescue breaths. Practice on mannequins until comfortable. AED familiarisation and pad placement drill.
Morning Session 2
Bleeding, Choking & Serious Emergencies
Managing serious bleeding with direct pressure and wound packing. Choking response for a conscious adult. Recognition of cardiac arrest vs. unconsciousness. Emergency services call practice — what to say, what information to give, how to keep the line open while performing CPR.
Afternoon Session 1
Secondary Care — First Aid Assessment
Systematic injury and illness assessment — the head-to-toe check. Recognising and responding to common emergencies: suspected fractures, head injuries, suspected spinal injuries, shock. Bandaging and splinting techniques with hands-on practice using real dressings and splints.
Afternoon Session 2
Integrated Scenarios & Sign-Off
Combined emergency scenarios where you manage the full response — from scene assessment through CPR, AED, and first aid hand-off. Instructor evaluates your competency (pass/fail, not a graded exam). Once signed off, your First Aid & CPR digital certification is submitted and your e-card issued — valid for 24 months globally.

No — this course has nothing to do with scuba diving. It's a dry, classroom-based first aid and CPR course that is open to everyone. Many of our First Aid & CPR students are not divers at all — they're travellers, hotel staff, water sports instructors, or locals who want practical emergency skills.

Yes — First Aid & CPR is internationally recognised and accepted by many employers as a valid workplace first aid certification. It meets ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) CPR guidelines and is widely accepted across the marine, hospitality, and outdoor education industries worldwide.

There is no written exam. The instructor evaluates your practical skills during the final scenarios — it's a competency sign-off, not a graded test. The goal is to ensure you can perform the skills, not to trick you with theory questions. Almost every participant passes on the day.

First Aid & CPR certification is valid for 24 months from the date of issue. After expiry you can take a shorter First Aid & CPR refresher course (typically half a day) to renew without repeating the full course. RAID Master Rescue Diver and Divemaster applications require a valid (non-expired) First Aid & CPR card.

Yes — and this is the most popular combination at Frogman. First Aid & CPR takes one day; Rescue Diver starts the following morning. We coordinate this seamlessly so there's no gap or wasted travel days. If you're planning both, contact us to book the combination and we'll schedule it as a single block.

It may — RAID accepts equivalent first aid and CPR certifications from recognised organisations including Red Cross, St John Ambulance, and others, provided the cert is current (within 24 months).
