Havelock's Legendary Dive Sites

From volcanic pinnacles teeming with pelagics to dramatic walls dropping into the abyss - these are the sites that define Andaman diving.

Standard Sites - ₹3,000/dive

2 km from shore  ·  10–55m  ·  Low–Moderate current
The Wall

A dramatic vertical wall plunging to 55+ metres. Massive gorgonian fans, Napoleon wrasse, and excellent macro in the shallows. Famous for octopus mating behaviour.

Short boat  ·  3–15m  ·  Low current
Tribe Gate

Colourful shallow reef with sea turtles, moray eels, and dense anthias clouds. Excellent for photography and second dives after a deeper morning site.

20 min boat  ·  10–18m  ·  Moderate
Red Pillar

The iconic vertical coral pillar covered in reddish-orange hard and soft corals. Schooling fish, nudibranchs, and groupers at the base. Best visibility in clear conditions.

Boat  ·  8–25m  ·  Low
The Slope & Lighthouse

Gradual slope transitioning from coral gardens to a sandy plateau. Stingrays, barracuda, and resident turtles near the Havelock lighthouse. Excellent for drift practice.

Premium Sites - ₹5,000/dive

19 km offshore  ·  16–35m  ·  Mod–Strong
Dixon's Pinnacle ⭐

Three volcanic pinnacles rising from 35m - the "Holy Trinity" of Andaman diving. Cleaning stations attract manta rays, mobula rays, and occasional whale sharks. Resident Napoleon wrasses and barracuda tornadoes.

18.5 km offshore  ·  22–30m  ·  Moderate

S.S. Inchkeith Wreck

A 1950s cargo vessel that sank in 1955 - now a thriving artificial reef. Visible propeller, cargo holds, ghost pipefish and nudibranchs. Exceptional for photography.

18 km offshore  ·  18–36m  ·  Strong
Jackson's Bar

Eagle rays, large groupers, and schools of snappers in strong current. An exhilarating drift dive for experienced divers. Best in Dec–March when visibility peaks at 30–40m.

A Day in the Life of a Frogman Diver

Our dawn schedule captures peak visibility and marine activity while most of Havelock still sleeps. Here's how a 2-dive day unfolds:

05:00 AM
Dawn Assembly at Frogman Base

Meet at our dive centre while Havelock still sleeps. Gear assembly, site briefing, and current conditions review. Early starts mean calm seas and the best visibility of the day.

05:30 AM
Speedboat Departure & Sunrise

Board our twin-engine speedboat. Watch the sunrise paint the Andaman Sea as we pass uninhabited Peel and Henry Lawrence Islands en route to the deep sites.

06:15 AM
First Dive: The Deep Site

Descend into Dixon's Pinnacle or Johnny's Gorge. 45–50 minutes of exploration at depth - pelagics, sharks, and pristine visibility. This is what you came for.

07:30 AM
Surface Interval: Chai & Stories

Relax on deck with hot masala chai, samosas, and fresh coconut water. Swap stories, review photos, and off-gas safely before dive two.

08:30 AM
Second Dive: Shallow Reef

A shallower second dive - Aquarium, Lighthouse, or a drift along The Wall. Extended bottom time for photography and macro hunting.

10:00 AM
Return & Logbook Signing

Back at Frogman base. Rinse gear, sign logbooks, and relive the dives with our team. Photos shared via WhatsApp. Done before lunch.

Best Diving Season

Peak: Dec – April

Visibility 25–40m+. Calm, clear seas. All deep sites accessible. Best window for manta and whale shark sightings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum certification for Dixon's Pinnacle?

Open Water Diver is legally sufficient, but we strongly recommend Advanced Open Water or a minimum of 20 logged dives due to depths up to 35m and potential for strong currents. We assess experience at booking and may recommend alternate sites for newer divers.

Is Nitrox available, and what does it cost?

Yes - Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx 32% or 36%) is available for ₹750 per tank. Highly recommended for deep sites like Dixon's and Johnny's to maximise no-decompression limits. Pre-book 24 hours in advance. Valid Nitrox certification required.

What if I haven't dived in over a year?

Safety first. If it's been over 12 months, we require a Scuba Refresher (₹2,500) before joining a fun dive group. This includes a shallow-water skills review - mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy check - and takes about 2 hours. It can be done the same morning.

Are there really sharks at Johnny's Gorge?

Yes. Johnny's Gorge has resident white-tip reef sharks - sightings are almost guaranteed. Dixon's Pinnacle occasionally sees grey reef sharks, and during peak season (Jan–March) whale sharks make appearances. All sharks here are non-aggressive reef species.

Is equipment rental included in the price?

Yes - all packages include full Scubapro equipment: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, fins, mask, tank, and weights. Divers using their own complete gear set receive a ₹500 discount per dive. Dive computers (₹500/day) and GoPro (₹2,000/day) are optional add-ons.

What is the best time of year for visibility?

October to May is the diving season. Visibility peaks between December and March, often reaching 30–40+ metres at offshore pinnacles. October–November offers good conditions with fewer crowds and better rates. June–September (monsoon) is not recommended.

Can I get private 1:1 guiding?

Our standard packages are 1:4 (one guide to four divers). Private 1:1 guiding is available for an additional ₹2,000 per dive - ideal for underwater photographers who want to focus on specific marine life or those wanting completely personalised attention.

Can I fly immediately after diving?

No. Wait a minimum of 18–24 hours after your last dive before flying to allow for proper nitrogen off-gassing. Plan your dive days accordingly - we recommend diving at least two days before your departure flight.
