Scuba Diving at Nemo Beach, Havelock Island

Most people who dive with us for the first time do it here. Nemo beach scuba diving suits beginners because of where the reef sits. Nemo Reef is directly off Nemo Beach, which is Beach No. 2 at Govind Nagar, so you walk in from the sand instead of riding a boat out to sea. There is almost no current and the shallow section is one to three metres, which means you can stand up in it. If you cannot swim, that is not a problem here. Your instructor stays next to you for the whole dive.

It is a shallow site, but there is more down there than people expect. Two fringing reefs with a sand patch between them, thick anemone beds full of clownfish, and an old Mahindra Jeep sitting on the bottom at 6 to 8 metres that the fish have long since taken over.

Nemo Beach Scuba Diving Price in Havelock

Scuba diving at Nemo Beach starts at ₹3,500 for the standard 30-minute dive. Both packages include a one-to-one certified instructor, all equipment, GoPro photos and videos of your dive. There is no boat fee, which is why a Nemo Beach shore dive costs less than a boat dive to the outer sites.

Shallow Water Training

Wade in to knee-deep water. Practice breathing through the regulator, clearing your mask, and the basic signals with your instructor before going deeper.

The Dive

Descend into Nemo Reef's coral gardens. Your instructor guides you through the reef while a GoPro captures your experience. Clownfish, groupers, and coral formations throughout.

What You'll See Underwater at Nemo Beach

The anemone beds are the real reason to dive here. On a good day you will find four different clownfish species in one dive, which is more than most people expect from water this shallow. What follows is what actually turns up on a regular dive, not a wish list.

Signature Species

Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) - the namesake, in every anemone cluster; multiple species including Clark's, saddle, and skunk clownfish
Humphead Parrotfish - large, unmistakable, grazes the reef noisily
Giant Grouper - big and slow moving, usually parked under a ledge
Moray Eel - spotted in rock crevices at 4-8 metres
Pufferfish - spotted inflating near the coral base

Nemo Reef sits in a protected bay at Nemo Beach, known officially as Beach No. 2 (Govind Nagar), on the north shore of Havelock Island, about 2-3km from the main jetty by auto-rickshaw. Unlike the boat dive sites, there's no surface swim required and no boat needed; you wade in from the beach and descend directly over the reef.

Nemo Beach Scuba Diving: Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most of the people we take to Nemo Beach cannot swim. You walk in from the sand, the shallow section is one to three metres, and your instructor holds on to you for the whole dive. Nobody tests your swimming and you do not need any certification. The nemo beach scuba diving price is ₹3,500 for the standard 30-minute dive and ₹4,500 for Nemo Reef Pro. Both prices are inclusive of GST, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. You can reserve a slot with a 10% advance and pay the balance at the dive centre.

Both packages include GoPro photos and videos of your dive. The standard dive (₹3,500) is a 30-minute underwater experience. The Pro upgrade (+₹1,000 = ₹4,500) gives you an extra 15 minutes underwater (45 min total), plus 10 extra photos and 2 extra videos, and covers more of the reef including the Ghost Jeep at 6-8 metres. If it's your first dive, the standard is plenty. Upgrade to Pro if you want more time and more content.

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours total. The theory session and shallow training takes around 30-45 minutes, the dive itself is 30-45 minutes, and exit and debriefing adds another 15 minutes. Photos and videos are delivered to your WhatsApp within 1-2 hours after the dive ends.

December to February offers the best conditions, with visibility of 20-30 metres, mirror-calm water, and peak marine life activity. October to November and March to May are excellent shoulder months with fewer crowds. Nemo Beach is diveable year-round including during the monsoon (June to September) because the sheltered bay protects it from swell, unlike the boat dive sites which are sometimes inaccessible in rough weather.

Nemo Beach is the local name for Beach No. 2 at Govind Nagar, on the north shore of Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep). It is roughly 2-3 km from the main jetty, about 5-10 minutes by auto-rickshaw. Nemo Reef lies directly off this beach, which is why the dive is a shore entry with no boat ride.

Almost certainly. There are clownfish in dozens of anemone clusters across the reef, and your instructor knows where each one sits. On a bad tide you might see fewer of them, but not none.

You're welcome to use our GoPro rental (+₹1,500) to record your own raw footage from your perspective. We also rent underwater housings for some phone models, ask us when booking. Your package already includes GoPro photos and videos taken during your dive. The rental gives you an additional unit so you can also capture your own raw perspective footage alongside the included content.

You surface immediately, no questions asked. Your instructor is monitoring you throughout and will pick up on any signs of discomfort before you even signal. We've had guests take 10 minutes to find their breathing rhythm at 2 metres before relaxing completely and continuing. There is no pressure to go deeper or stay longer than you're comfortable with.

Our visit to Havelock (Govind nagar Beach) with Frogman for scuba diving and snorkeling was an absolutely amazing experience. Everything was organized very well by Mr. Suchit Sir, who was present throughout the entire experience and made sure we were comfortable and safe at all times.
The team was extremely professional, supportive, and friendly. Safety was clearly their top priority, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Underwater, we saw beautiful corals and a wide variety of colorful fish in the deep sea it was truly a different and unforgettable world.

What an experience! We as a family enjoyed every bit of this activity. We did the lighthouse scuba dive. Never had the experience this close with the variety of fishes and corels. Must do while in Havelock and frogman makes scuba diving comfortable and relaxing. Founder Suchit is very professional and the instructors and divers are also very professional. They all know their responsibilities and passion. Neelkant, Ketan, Rubin and other divers were very patient and explained everything (does and don't) underwater. The team really makes u comfortable and tries to push themselves and us for an excellent experience. If time permits, will book this dive again. If not for sure next time.

We had a wonderful experience with Frogman. We had Neelkanth and Ketan sir as our diving instructors. It was our first time trying it out. The pre-training was very clear. Scuba Diving in Nemo Beach, Havelock Island

Scuba diving in Nemo Beach is where most first-time divers in the Andaman Islands begin. Nemo Beach is what almost everyone calls Beach No. 2 at Govind Nagar, on the north shore of Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep), and Nemo Reef lies directly off it. Because the reef is right there, you walk in from the sand instead of riding a boat out to sea. No open-water entry, no surface swim, and nothing to be seasick about. You start standing in waist-deep water and go deeper when you are ready, not before.

The water is what makes nemo beach scuba diving easy for beginners. The reef sits in a sheltered bay with almost no current, starting at barely one metre and sloping down to about twelve. Visibility usually holds between 10 and 15 metres, and climbs to 20 or 30 in the clear months. Even a few metres down you are already among the clownfish, parrotfish and snappers. The clownfish are how the site got its name.

The best months for scuba diving at Nemo Beach are October to May, when the sea is flat and the water is at its clearest. The bay stays diveable for most of the rest of the year too, because it is protected from the swell that shuts the outer boat sites. A shore dive also costs less than a boat dive, since there is no boat or fuel in the price. Anyone aged 10 or above can do it, with no upper age limit, and you do not need to swim or hold any certification, which is why non-swimmers are especially welcome here.

Every dive at Nemo Beach includes a full safety briefing, hand-signal practice, shallow-water training and a strictly one-to-one certified instructor who stays with you for the whole dive, along with GoPro photos and videos you can share the same day.
