About Andaman island hopping

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands hold hundreds of islands. The public ferry stops at four of them. Everything else - the uninhabited cluster of Ritchie's Archipelago just east of Havelock: Inglis, Henry Lawrence, John Lawrence, Wilson, Outram, Peel and Nicholson - sits on islands no ferry visits. So you charter a boat. We've been running ours out of Havelock for over a decade.

Trips leave from Govind Nagar Jetty at Havelock Beach No. 3 - a 4 to 5 hour run, your group only. Skip a stop, swap an island, sit on a beach for an extra hour - the captain works around what you want.

Why book with us. Most operators selling island hopping in Andaman and Nicobar are travel agents who book a boat for you and step away. We own ours. There's a RAID/PADI dive guide on every trip - someone who actually knows what's swimming below you. GoPro footage comes free; the route is yours to set.

How a typical trip looks

This is a sample 4 to 5 hour Ritchie's Archipelago route from Havelock. Times shift with the wind and what your group wants to do. Want a different schedule, an extra island, or a fully custom day? WhatsApp us and we'll plan it around you.

Step 1
Hotel pickup & briefing
We pick you up from your Havelock resort and drive to Govind Nagar Jetty. Coffee, route briefing, life-jacket fit on the boat.
Step 2
Cast off from Beach No. 3
Boat departs. Calm-water cruise out to the first reef. Dolphins are common on the run out.
Step 3
Lighthouse or Inglis snorkel
Anchor at the first reef of the day. 30 to 40 minutes in the water with a guide and a GoPro. Reef top at 3-4 m, clownfish guaranteed, healthy hard and soft coral patches.
Step 4
Beach stop & refreshments
Beach landing at Henry Lawrence or Wilson - swim, walk, take photos. Mineral water, juice and snacks served onboard. No hot lunch on this 4-5 hour trip.
Step 5
Second snorkel stop
One more reef on the way back, usually Peel or Nicholson. Pristine coral, almost no traffic, 30 minutes in the water.
Step 6
Cruise back & hotel drop
Slow return to Beach No. 3. GoPro footage WhatsApped before you leave the boat. Drop at your hotel. Total trip 4 to 5 hours.

It's a private boat. Skip a stop, swap an island, stay an extra hour at a beach you like. Want a longer day with a hot lunch or a fully custom itinerary? WhatsApp us and we'll quote it. Forecast is checked the night before; weather-cancelled trips are rescheduled or refunded in full.

Ritchie's Archipelago islands you can hop to

Ritchie's Archipelago is the uninhabited cluster just east of Havelock - seven islands sit within easy 4-5 hour reach. None of them are on a ferry route, which is why you need a private boat to get there. Want a longer-range custom run? Talk to us.

Inglis Island

  • Uninhabited, east of Henry Lawrence
  • White-sand beach, snorkel reef in 2-4 m of clear water
  • Typically the first reef stop of the day
  • Healthy hard and soft coral patches

Henry Lawrence Island

  • 54 sq km, forest-fringed, untouched beach
  • Shallow coral patches close to shore
  • Almost no other boats - yours is often the only one
  • Special-area permit applies (₹500 / ₹2,500)

John Lawrence Island

  • 35 sq km, uninhabited
  • Mangrove edges and a sheltered reef
  • Almost zero day-trip traffic
  • Good for a quiet snorkel and beach lounge

Wilson Island

  • Uninhabited, south of John Lawrence
  • Quiet white-sand beach
  • Sheltered swimming, good for non-swimmers
  • Often empty for the whole stop

Outram Island

  • Uninhabited, eastern edge of Ritchie's
  • Quiet snorkel stop, fringing reef
  • Coral patches and fish density typical of a protected area

Peel Island

  • Small uninhabited islet
  • Calm water, easy reef entry, near-guaranteed solitude
  • Quiet snorkel break
  • Pristine coral, almost no traffic

Nicholson Island

  • Sheltered mangrove channels and shallow coral
  • Stays calm even when the open water is choppy
  • Favourite stop on the Havelock-side hop
  • Easy for non-swimmers and kids

Lighthouse (snorkel site)

  • Not an island - a fringing reef ~25 min from Havelock
  • Reef top at 3-4 m, easy snorkelling
  • Common first stop on the way out to Ritchie's

Frequently asked questions

₹7,000 + 18% GST per person for the 4-5 hour trip. ₹40,000 + GST for a private charter (whole boat, up to 8 people). Most other operators offering island hopping in Andaman and Nicobar charge ₹13,500-₹30,000 per person for a similar day - we run our own boat so the agent margin isn't there.

4 to 5 hours on the water, departing from Govind Nagar Jetty at Havelock Beach No. 3 with snorkel stops along the way.

We run Ritchie's Archipelago from Havelock - Inglis, Henry Lawrence, John Lawrence, Wilson, Outram, Peel and Nicholson, with a Lighthouse snorkel on the way out. South Button, Long Island and Barren Island are separate dedicated trips on their own product pages.

Most island hopping in Andaman and Nicobar is sold as a day-trip charter from Havelock or Port Blair. The Nicobar group itself is restricted, not open to tourists. Our Andaman island hopping covers Ritchie's Archipelago from Havelock - the accessible uninhabited cluster east of Havelock.

Private. Your group has the boat. The per-person price of ₹7,000 + 18% GST assumes a small group sharing the cost; the full-boat private charter rate is ₹40,000 + GST and gets you the entire vessel, up to 8 people.

No. Coast Guard life jacket and in-water guide for everyone. Snorkel stops are 1-4 m deep, so you keep your head above water and still see clownfish, parrotfish and live coral.

Makruzz is a 300-seat public ferry on a fixed route between Port Blair, Havelock and Neil. Andaman island hopping is a private boat that stops at uninhabited islands of Ritchie's Archipelago - Inglis, Henry Lawrence, John Lawrence and others no ferry visits - with snorkelling and beach time built in.

Captain or Coast Guard call it off if the sea state isn't safe. We reschedule or refund 100%. Forecast is checked the night before; you'll know by 7pm.

Small special-area fee on the morning - ₹500 per Indian, ₹2,500 per foreigner - for Henry Lawrence Island and other notified protected sites within Ritchie's Archipelago. Indian nationals just need a government photo ID; foreigners need their passport and the Restricted Area Permit issued on arrival in Port Blair.

No. 18% GST is added on top of the ₹7,000 per-person price and the ₹40,000 private charter rate. Permits are separate from the listed price.

October to mid-May. Sea is calm, visibility 20-30 m at most Ritchie's Archipelago reefs. December and January book up first. March and April are arguably better - empty beaches, warmer water, fewer boats. We don't run open-water trips in the monsoon (June-September).

WhatsApp +91 95319 24029 or use the booking form on this page. Tell us your dates, group size and whether you want the standard 4-5 hour trip or a custom itinerary; we confirm with a deposit and balance on the day. Free cancellation up to 60 days out.
