What You Will Practice: The Core Skills

Knowledge Review

A casual but thorough briefing on dive planning, hand signals, and the local Andaman marine environment. No stress, just a friendly chat to jog your memory.

Shallow Water Session

Conducted at Nemo Reef in waist-deep water. We practice mask clearing, regulator recovery, and out-of-air scenarios until you feel 100% comfortable.

The Art of Buoyancy

We dedicate a portion of the dive to "hovering" and trim. Protecting our delicate coral reefs starts with mastery of your buoyancy.

Gear Mastery

Hands-on review of BCD and regulator assembly. We ensure you can set up your own gear with confidence before we head to the boat.

Best Dive Sites for Your Skill Refresh

Site Name Depth Topography Why it's Ideal for Refresh
Nemo Reef 5 - 15m Shallow sandy patches & vibrant reef Sheltered from current; easy to stand up if panicked. Perfect for the first dip.
The Aquarium 3 - 15m Gently sloping reef Predictable currents; great for "drift practice" once basic skills are mastered.
Oval Reef 3 - 14m Patch reef on sandy bottom Very shallow entry; soothing and "short" navigation for anxious divers.
The Wall 10–55m Vertical drop-off Excellent as a "second dive" to test new buoyancy skills at depth (Advanced Divers).

Unlock Havelock's Best Dive Sites

Medical & Safety Requirements

Important Medical Considerations

Scuba diving requires certain physical fitness. Please review these requirements before booking:

Diver Medical Form
All participants must complete a medical questionnaire
Age 50-60
Mandatory "Fit to Dive" certificate from a physician required in Andaman
No Fly Time
Wait at least 18 hours after multiple dives before flying
Permits
National Park dives (South Button) have separate Forest Department fees

Medical Clearance: You'll complete a WRSTC medical questionnaire before diving. If you answer "yes" to any questions, a physician's clearance is required. Contact us if unsure. We recommend dive insurance through DAN (Divers Alert Network) for additional peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I be out of the water?

If it’s been over 6 months to 1 year, a refresher is recommended. Over 2 years, it’s mandatory for safety.

I haven't dived in 10 years. Refresher or Course?

For a 10+ year hiatus, we strongly recommend retaking the Open Water Course. However, very experienced divers might qualify for a RAID ReActivate.

What if I lost my certification card?

No problem! We can look you up in the global RAID/SSI database using your name and birthdate.

Can I use my own equipment?

Yes! Using your own gear is often more comfortable. We offer a discount for divers with full kit.

Is it safe to dive in the rain?

Absolutely. The underwater world is unaffected by rain. We only cancel if sea conditions (waves/wind) are unsafe.

How long does the refresher program take?

It’s typically a half-day program. We start at 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM and finish around 1:00 PM, depending on shore or boat dives.

How deep will we go during the refresher?

We start in waist-deep water at Nemo Reef, then move to 12m max for the first dive and up to 18m for the second dive, depending on your certification level.

Can I do a refresher if I have asthma or high blood pressure?

Diving with these conditions requires a written “Fit to Dive” clearance from a doctor. We recommend getting this at home before traveling.

What if I can't clear my mask?

Mask clearing is the most common anxiety. We practice in very shallow water where you can simply stand up if needed. Our instructors are patient and will work with you until it becomes second nature again.

Is all the gear included in the price?

Yes! Our prices are all-inclusive: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, and weights. We also include snacks and water on the boat.

Can I fly back immediately after diving?

No. Wait at least 18 hours (multiple dives) or 12 hours (single dive) before flying. Please plan your ferry and flight accordingly.

What is the instructor-to-student ratio?

For refresher programs, we maintain a maximum 1:2 ratio to ensure personalized attention. Initial skill sessions are 1:1 at no extra charge.
