You train on real coral reefs with sea turtles and colourful reef fish from day one. Compared to Goa, Pondicherry or Netrani, the Andamans offer much better underwater conditions.

Should I combine Open Water and Advanced in one Andaman trip?

If you have 6 to 7 days in Havelock, doing both back-to-back works well. You finish Open Water in 3 to 4 days, then Advanced in 2 to 3 days. Yes. All major training agencies require a 200-metre swim and a 10-minute float or tread water test before certification. You do not need to be a competitive swimmer, just comfortable in deep water. Warm 27 to 30 degree water in Havelock makes these tests far more relaxed than cold pools or quarries. If you cannot swim, Frogman offers Try Dives (Try Scuba) where an instructor stays with you the entire time.

The best conditions are from October to May when seas are calm and visibility peaks at 20 to 30 metres. Water temperature is comfortable year-round at 26 to 30 degrees.
