What You Need Before You Start

The PADI Open Water course is designed to be accessible. There are no prior diving or swimming certifications needed — just a basic comfort in water and a few physical benchmarks you'll complete on Day 1.

Minimum Age
10+ for Junior Open Water certification. 15+ for the standard full Open Water card.
200 m Swim Test
Swim 200 metres continuously in any stroke, no time limit. Alternatively, 300 m with mask, fins & snorkel.
10-Min Float
Tread water or float for 10 minutes without touching the bottom or the pool side.
Medical Fitness
Complete a standard PADI medical questionnaire. A doctor's sign-off may be needed for certain conditions.
Non-Swimmers
If you're not comfortable in water, try the Discover Scuba experience first — no swim test required.
Theory (Optional)
Complete PADI e-learning online before you arrive to save holiday time. Contact us to link your account.

Your 4-Day Schedule

Each day is structured to build your confidence and skills progressively — from theory in an air-conditioned classroom to real dives in Havelock's warm, clear water.

Day 1
Theory & Confined Water
Classroom sessions covering dive physics, equipment, and safety procedures. Confined water skills including mask clearing, breathing control, and emergency ascents.
Day 2
Skill Circuits & Water Tests
Complete your 200 m swim assessment and 10-minute float. Finish any remaining confined water skill circuits and prepare your gear for open ocean dives.
Day 3
Open Water Dives 1 & 2
Your first real ocean dives. Explore Havelock's reefs to a maximum depth of 12 metres alongside your PADI instructor. See coral, fish, and the reef up close.
Day 4
Open Water Dives 3 & 4 + Certification
Push to the full 18-metre depth limit on your final two dives. Complete your written exam and receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification — valid for life, accepted worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both are ISO-certified and globally recognised. PADI is the world's largest dive organisation — widely known and accepted everywhere. RAID is more modern and digital-first, and certifies to 20 metres vs PADI's 18 metres. Either card is accepted at dive centres worldwide. Frogman is both a PADI and RAID centre — we offer both.

It's designed for anyone aged 10 and above, so it's genuinely achievable for most people. The swim tests (200 m swim + 10-min float) and the dive physics theory are the main challenges. Our instructors guide you through every step at your own pace.

Yes! PADI's e-learning is available online and lets you finish the theory section at home before your trip, saving you a half-day on holiday. Contact us before you book and we'll link your PADI account to Frogman so everything is ready when you arrive.

No. Your PADI Open Water licence is valid for life. However, if you haven't dived for a year or more, we recommend a short Scuba Review (refresher) dive before your next independent dive — it takes about half a day and brings your skills back up to speed.

You don't need to be a competitive swimmer — just comfortable in water. The swim test is a 200 m continuous swim in any stroke with no time limit, or 300 m with snorkelling gear. If you're not confident in open water yet, start with our Discover Scuba experience, which has no swim requirement.

You'll complete a standard PADI medical questionnaire on Day 1. Most healthy people qualify without issue. Some conditions (asthma, recent surgery, ear problems) may require a doctor's clearance letter. If you have concerns, email us before booking and we'll advise.

The listed price of ₹28,000 excludes GST. 18% GST is applicable as per Indian government regulations, bringing the total to ₹33,040. Your invoice will show the full breakdown for any reimbursement claims.

I was terrified of going underwater on Day 1 — genuinely almost pulled out. By Day 3 I was completely at ease. Got my certification on Day 4 and immediately booked Advanced dives for the following week.

Not a confident swimmer going in, which I told them upfront. They didn't rush me through the swim test — just let me take my time. Saw a turtle on Day 3 at about 10 metres. That's the moment I understood why people get hooked on this.

The small group size made all the difference. Three of us with one instructor — you actually get attention. Did the e-learning beforehand which saved almost a full morning. Would do again without hesitation.

Completed the course with my partner. Theory e-learning beforehand saved us half a day so we could dive more. The gear was in excellent condition. Day 4 at 18m was a completely different experience to the Day 3 shallows — much calmer down there.
