Why Choose a Boat Dive in Andaman?

While shore dives are great, the Boat Dive takes you somewhere completely different. Shore sites can get busy and often have sandy bottoms. A short boat ride gets us to reefs with no foot traffic, 15 to 25 meters of visibility and massive schools of fish.

Is it safe for non-swimmers?
100% Yes. Even in the open ocean, our safety standards remain the same. You will have a dedicated Frogman instructor (1:1 ratio) holding you from the moment you jump off the boat until you return to the surface. You get to see deeper reefs while your instructor handles everything.

Boat Dive vs Shore Dive – Which One to Choose?

The boat dive is our premium option with deeper reefs and bigger marine life. If you prefer calmer, shallower conditions or you’re a non-swimmer, our shore dive at Nemo Reef is the perfect alternative at ₹2,500. Both are great for first-timers in Andaman.

Marine Life at Tribe Gate & Juvis, Havelock

These sites are famous for their “dense” marine life. Unlike the shore where you see fish individually, here you see them in massive clouds.

  • Tribe Gate Special: Huge schools of Yellow-back Fusiliers and Trevally that surround divers.
  • Giant Sea Fans: Massive Gorgonian fans (coral trees) that grow on the deeper reef slopes.
  • Hard Corals: Pristine Staghorn and Table corals that stretch for miles.
  • Bigger Species: Higher chance of spotting Blue-spotted Stingrays, Groupers, and occasionally Sea Turtles.
  • Kashmir Snappers: Beautiful schools of bright blue striped fish distinctive to these deeper sites.

Boat Dive FAQs

Do I need swimming experience for a boat dive in Andaman?

No. You don’t need to be a swimmer. Your instructor controls your buoyancy and movement underwater. You enter the water from the boat with full gear and your instructor by your side.

Will I get seasick on the boat ride to the dive site?

The boat ride to Tribe Gate or Juvis is only 15-20 minutes and the waters around Havelock are generally calm. If you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking a tablet 30 minutes before departure.

How deep is the beginner boat dive at Havelock?

The boat dive reaches a maximum depth of 10-12 meters (33-40 feet). You’ll hover over stunning coral formations and swim alongside much larger marine life than what you’d see on a shore dive.

Why is the boat dive more expensive than shore diving in Andaman?

The boat dive includes a private speed boat to pristine offshore reefs that shore divers can’t reach. You get deeper reefs, clearer water, bigger marine life, and fewer crowds. The boat, fuel, and crew are included in the ₹3,500–₹6,500 per person .

What is the best time for a beginner boat dive in Havelock?

October to May is ideal – calm seas, clear visibility (15-30m), and warm water (27-29°C). Morning slots (8 AM) offer the best visibility and calmest conditions. We run boat dives year-round except during heavy monsoon (June-August).

What marine life will I see on a boat dive at Havelock?

Tribe Gate and Juvis are famous for sea turtles, reef sharks, giant groupers, Napoleon wrasse, schools of barracuda, lionfish, and pristine hard coral gardens. The diversity here is far richer than shore sites.
