Havelock's Legendary Dive Sites - Andaman's Best

From volcanic pinnacles teeming with pelagics to dramatic walls dropping into the abyss - these are the sites that define Andaman diving.

Dixon's Pinnacle dive site - Napoleon wrasse and pelagics at Havelock Island

Dixon's Pinnacle

16-35m Moderate-Strong Current 19 km from shore

Three massive volcanic pinnacles rising from 35m - the "Holy Trinity" of Andaman diving. Famous cleaning stations attract manta rays, mobula rays, and occasional whale sharks. Home to resident Napoleon wrasses and barracuda tornadoes.

Johnny's Gorge dive site - White-tip reef shark at Havelock Island

Johnny's Gorge

22-30m Moderate Current 18.5 km from shore

The shark capital of Havelock. This kidney-shaped reef is home to resident white-tip reef sharks - sightings almost guaranteed. Dramatic "fish tornadoes" of barracudas and snappers swirl above the sandy expanse.

The Wall dive site - Dramatic vertical drop with soft corals at Havelock

The Wall

10-55m Low-Moderate 2 km from shore

A Day in the Life of a Frogman Diver

Our Dawn Dive schedule captures peak visibility and marine activity while most of the island sleeps.

05:00 AM

Dawn Assembly at Frogman Base

Meet at our dive center while Havelock still sleeps. Gear assembly, site briefing, and current conditions review. Early starts mean calm seas and the best visibility.

Reef-Safe Diving: The Frogman Promise

We're committed to protecting the reefs that make Havelock diving extraordinary. Our "Blue Oceans" philosophy guides every dive.

Reef-Safe Sunscreen Only

We ban Oxybenzone and Octinoxate - chemicals that damage coral DNA and inhibit reproduction. Use mineral-based alternatives or our UV rash guards.

No Touch, No Take

We maintain neutral buoyancy at all times. No touching corals, no chasing wildlife, no collecting. Look with your eyes, photograph with care.

Marine Conservation

A portion of every dive fee supports local reef monitoring and beach cleanup initiatives. Dive with us, and you're directly funding conservation.

Responsible Photography

No flash photography on sensitive species. We teach proper fin positioning to avoid sediment disturbance. Your photos shouldn't cost the reef.

Fit to Dive: Medical Requirements

Important Medical Considerations

Scuba diving requires certain physical fitness. Please review these requirements before booking:

Standard Eligibility
Age 12-49, reasonably fit, no major medical conditions
50+ Years
Requires physician-signed "Fit to Dive" certificate
Disqualifying Conditions
Uncontrolled asthma, epilepsy, recent heart surgery
Flying After Diving
Wait minimum 18-24 hours after your last dive

You'll complete a WRSTC medical questionnaire before diving. If you answer "yes" to any questions, a physician's clearance is required. Contact us if unsure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum certification required for Dixon's Pinnacle?

While Open Water Diver (OWD) is legally sufficient, we strongly recommend Advanced Open Water or a minimum of 20 logged dives due to depths up to 35m and potential for strong currents. We assess experience during booking and may recommend alternate sites for newer divers.

Is Nitrox available, and what does it cost?

Yes! Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx 32% or 36%) is available for ₹750 per tank. Highly recommended for deep sites like Dixon’s and Johnny’s to maximize no-decompression limits. Please pre-book 24 hours in advance. You must show valid Nitrox certification.

What if I haven't dived in over a year?

Safety first! If it’s been over 12 months, we require a Scuba Refresher (₹2,499). This includes a quick skills review in shallow water – mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy check – before heading to deeper sites. Takes about 2 hours and can be done same-day morning.

Are there really sharks in Havelock diving sites?

Yes! Johnny’s Gorge has resident white-tip reef sharks – sightings are almost guaranteed. Dixon’s Pinnacle occasionally sees grey reef sharks, and during peak season (Jan-March), whale sharks make appearances. All sharks here are non-aggressive reef species.

Can I dive with a medical condition like asthma?

You must have a “Fit to Dive” certificate signed by a physician. Controlled asthma may be acceptable with clearance. Conditions like untreated epilepsy, recent heart surgery, or major depression are disqualifying. Complete our medical questionnaire honestly – your safety is paramount.

What is the best time of year for visibility?

October to May is the diving season. Visibility peaks between December and March, often reaching 30-40+ meters on offshore pinnacles. October-November offers good conditions with fewer crowds. June-September (monsoon) is not recommended due to poor visibility and rough seas.

Do you offer 1:1 private guiding for certified divers?

Our standard packages are 1:4 (one guide to four divers). Private 1:1 guiding is available for an additional ₹2,000 per dive – ideal for photographers who want to focus on specific marine life or those wanting completely personalized attention.

Is equipment rental included in the Fun Dive price?

Yes! All packages include full equipment: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, fins, mask, tank, and weights. Divers using their own complete gear set receive a ₹500 discount. Dive computers are available for rent at ₹500/day.

What is the water temperature in Havelock?

The Andaman Sea remains a comfortable 26°C to 29°C year-round. We provide 3mm shorty wetsuits as standard (full suits available on request). Most divers find this perfectly comfortable for 45-50 minute dives.

How do I get to the dive center from my resort?

Free pickup and drop-off is included for all resorts in the main Havelock area (Govind Nagar, Beach No. 3, Beach No. 5, Beach No. 7). Remote properties like Taj Exotica may require a small surcharge. We’ll confirm pickup time the evening before.

Can I fly immediately after diving?

No. You must wait a minimum of 18-24 hours after your last dive before flying to allow for proper nitrogen off-gassing. Plan your dive days accordingly – we recommend diving at the start of your Havelock trip, not the end.

Is it safe to dive during monsoon season?

Not recommended. While some diving continues year-round, offshore sites like Dixon’s and Johnny’s are inaccessible from June to September due to high winds and rough seas. Visibility drops to 5-10m. October to May is the safe, recommended window.
